'Paranormal Activity 2' scares up record $41.5 million

http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Movies/10/24/box.office.paranormal.activity.ew/index.html

For the past couple of weekends there has been a number of different movies of different gernes. This past weekend was Paranormal Activity 2.  As I have heard, the first one wasn't to good at all but as the looks of it the second one is seeming to make queit a big slash at the box offices.  Making 41.5 million the starting weekend it seems to have beaten the others in there weekend openers over the past weeks. Ones like The Social Network, Jackass 3D, Clint Eastwoods Hereafter, and others. Next weekend Saw 3D makes its opening and we will have to see how it competes with Paranormal Activity 2 and how Paranormal Activity 2 will do for its second weekend out.

Angelina Jolie defends her controversial movie-in-progress

http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Movies/10/15/angelina.jolie.defends.movie.ppl/index.html

This article I choose for this weeks blog is about Angelina Jolie. She is apparently directing a love story in Hungry durning their countrys war of 1992-95. I always thought that Angelina was a good actress who could play the female action hero very well, but her directing a movie? I don't about that, but then again she knows what it takes to have a good movie. Angelina's film is based off a true story but is not a documentary as she says because "objections were raised by the association Women Victims of War, who accused the film of presenting "misleading history." Angelina also says for them to wait for the movie to be released before they make assumption about it.

Johnny Depp drops by England school in 'Pirates' costume

http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2010/10/08/johnny-depp-drops-by-england-school-in-pirates-costume/?iref=trendent

This isn't a very big article to write a blog on but when I saw what it was about I had to pick it as the one to use for this week. I've always been a big fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and so this article was pretty cool to read.  The fact that a kid the age of 9 sent mail to Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Jack actually took time to go and show up at this kids school.  Beatrice Delap the student who wrote to Jack said that he and his class were having trouble mutinying against his teachers and asked to stop by and help him out.  This can actually be a big deal, it shows that not all celebrities are completely ignorant and think that they are above the world.  It shows that some of them are actually pretty nice and what Johnny Depp and his crew did was pretty great.  They made a bunch of kids really happy that day and I'm sure they will remember that day for a long time to come yet.  I envy Beatrice Delap, and am jealous she got to meet him.

Statue of King Tut's grandfather unearthed in Egypt

http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/africa/10/02/egypt.pharaoh.statue/index.html

The unearthing of King Tut's grandfather, in my opinion, is a big find. It is also consided to be a big find by Zahi Hawass, the council's secretary general. To find it with such great craftsmanship is very big acorrding to Zahi, and just the thought that they could do such amazing work back then can blow anyones mind. How unadvanced they were yet managed to big things that are as amazing as they are and still standing today is unreal. They say that King Tut's grandfather reigned in a time of wealth and stability means a lot about him, even thought he was given the empire like that it takes a great leader to keep it that way. It also says that he started a lot of building project in his time or ruling.

Pentagon destroys thousands of copies of Army officer's memoir

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/09/25/books.destroyed/index.html

So this news story was about a Army special forces soldier, who was writing a memoir and had it finish but when he published it the Pentagon blacked out sentences to paragraphs in the memoir. The Pentagon stated that the infomation in the text put the U.S. national security at risk. Army Reserve Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer the author of the book, said that he had clearance for the book, when in fact he did get clearance but just from one of the three agencies needed. My opinion on the matter is that he should not of released the book in the first place. That by him in the military and knowing what it is like and knowing how important the information is that he knows, he should have never published the book. Also I'm sure that after he had the text from the book passed by one agency they told him to go and clear it with the next. After all we are still in a war and as a man who knows first hand what its like there, this should've never happened
